Planned Restart of the Expense Servers

To maintain the stability and performance of our database system, we will be restarting our SQL Server today.

This article provides essential details about the restart, its impact on our applications, and what users can expect.

Why is this restart necessary?

SQL Server is a critical component that stores and manages all our data. Regular restarts help optimize performance, apply necessary updates, and ensure smooth operation.

Impact on Applications

During the restart, all applications—both web and mobile—will be temporarily unavailable.

The expected downtime will be between 60 seconds and 3-4 minutes, depending on system updates.

Once the restart is complete, all services will resume normal operation.

Planned Downtime Duration

  • Start Time: Today, Friday at 17:00
  • Estimated Duration: 1 to 4 minutes
  • End Time: Services will resume automatically after the restart is complete

User Notification

To inform users in advance, we recommend displaying a banner notification on application pages. The message could be:

Planned Maintenance: Our system will undergo a brief restart today, which may cause temporary service unavailability for up to 4 minutes. Thank you for your patience.

Post-Restart Monitoring

After the restart, our team will monitor the system to ensure all services are functioning correctly.
